Sheldon barn 6

We are nearing the end of the tour (and I apologize for the delay, but this rainy May has slowed me down considerably!) The third portion of the tour features barns around Sheldon, Iowa – plus one barn left out of the fun in Primghar.

You can check out all the details of the entire tour found at www.obriencounty.com

Just go under the tourism tab, and search under barn quilt tour. The whole list of barns with addresses and GPS coordinates can be found on the county website. Pick a nice afternoon, most of the quilts can be seen from the road. However, I’m putting a video together for the county (that I will include with the 4th and last part of the Barn Quilt Tour.

I thought I would end this short post with one of my favorite barn quilts on the tour — I have it pictured above as well.

This one is found just off NEST Ave, headed south out of Sheldon, and as soon as you come upon it – you’ll know. It gives you the magical feeling of being on a farm from yesterday, with the picturesque windmill, the rustic white barn, with the farm surrounding you, and a sign that says, “God Bless This Farm” with a colorful barn quilt that jumps off the page. It’s almost like it’s saying, “Here I am…take a picture”!

So…I did. =)

I can’t wait to post the O’Brien County Barn Quilt Tour video in the next blog post. Speaking of which…the youtube channel has switched a little – where I’m capturing the story behind this blog. Video behind the scenes called “A Vlog about a Blog” It’s been fun to blog and video about rural America and the place I call home.
